Bradshaw quits Lions

Veteran AFL forward Daniel Bradshaw has quit the Brisbane Lions after rejecting a new two-year deal put to him on Friday.
The former Wodonga lad and now Lions’ all-time leading goalscorer, is understood to have advised Brisbane officials that he wants out after 13 seasons in the maroon and blue.
The 30-year-old’s relationship with the Lions and senior coach Michael Voss changed from the moment he was put up for trade along with midfielder Michael Rischitelli in a bid to secure wayward Carlton forward Brendan Fevola. [... AAP]
While the Lions eventually snared Fevola in a trade for teenage forward Lachlan Henderson and an exchange of picks, the damage in Bradshaw’s mind had been done.
Bradshaw, who has been visiting family in Wodonga over the past week, may yet find his way to Carlton through the national or pre-season drafts.
The Blues made a firm offer during Bradshaw’s visit to Melbourne during trade week, and would appear to be the front runners.
Fevola’s departure has left Carlton with plenty of room in its salary cap and there’s every prospect that there’ll be further room if, as expected, midfielder Nick Stevens is forced to retire because of a chronic neck injury that flared late in the season.
