Police are investigating the death of a woman in a house fire in Wodonga about 3.30pm yesterday (14 June).
Police went to the house to do a welfare check on the woman aged 40.
When they arrived the house was on fire, police made efforts to get into the house but were unable to do so.
Country Fire Authority units attended and fire fighters were able to force their way into the smoke filled building.
The woman was found in a front bedroom and removed from the house.
Attempts by emergency crews to revive the woman were unsuccessful.
Police believe the fire is not suspicious.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner in relation to the woman’s death.
